Kindermusik Musicians (a new updated curriculum to replace Kindermusik for the Young Child), for children aged 5 to 7, continues the musical journey with a pressure-free approach that includes exposure to various types of multicultural music.
Here, your child can explore vocal development, rhythm, notation, musical symbols, and authentic pre-keyboard, stringed, and wind instruments.
What will we do in class, and why? Singing fosters the development of a child’s first and most important instrument — the voice — through vocal exploration, songs, and chants. Moving develops body awareness and coordination through synchronized movement, creative motion, drama, and dance. Playing introduces a variety of musical timbres with percussion instruments such as the glockenspiel, tambourine, cymbal, wood block, triangle, and drum. Listening cultivates your child’s attentiveness to sound discrimination with exposure to music from a wide variety of styles and cultures.
Children meet with their educator for 60 minutes during the 15-week semester. Because students attend class without an accompanying adult, we request that they be fluent in English.
